Profile Mare Australis - Southern Patagonia Glaciers Cruise (8D/7N)
Day 1
Punta Arenas
Boarding "Mare Australis" Cruiser. The crew headed by the Captain will welcome you aboard for cocktails with you cruise companions. Immediately after, the ship will depart towards the end of the world. Along the mythical Strait of Magellan, you will sail through Patagonian Channels and around Tierra del Fuego. The beginning of a great adventure.
Day 2
Ainsworth Bay-Marinelli Glacier-Tucker Islet
With the first light of dawn navigation you will continue through Almirantazgo Fjord. You will disembark in Ainsworth Bay near Marinelli Glacier, where you will take a walk to see the Beaver dams and the Magellan Forests. You will also see a Sea lion colony close at hand. During the afternoon, you will visit a small colony of Magellan Penguins at Tucker Islet. It is also important to mention that the presence of dolphins is likely. Once back onboard, it is possible to observe that on the other side of the island there is a Colony of cormorants and after a few minutes of navigation there is a rocky promontory with a large colony of sea lions and seals.
Day 3
D´Agostini Fjord-Serrano, D´Agostini Glacier and Condor Glacier
Dawn finds you by the D´Agostini Fjord where you can appreciate the Serrano Glacier and later the D'Agostini. You will disembark in Condor Bay, close to the Condor Glacier. Here yu will enjoy a short walk and an excursion by zodiac. After boarding again the ship will sail through the Strait of Magellan to reach Brecknock Channel.
Day 4
Beagle Channel - Garibaldi Glacier - Port Williams
After navigating across Desolation Bay and through the O'Brian and Balleneros Channels you will enter the north west extension of the Beagle Channel to experience the majestic "Glaciers Avenue": Spain, Romanche, Germany, Italy, France and Holland. Then you will sail Garibaldi Fjord where you will be able to enjoy views of the Glacier of the same name and the impressive snowfields of the Darwin Range. On the route along the bay the ship makes a short stop to admire the sea lions. You will take the opportunity to disembark in zodiacs at one of the beaches along this protected and wonderful place. There you will undertake an adventurous trek to appreciate the lush vegetation and the virgin forests that cover the mountain slopes.
In the afternoon you will stop at Port Williams, the most southern city in the world, were you may take optional tours to the Martin Gusinde museum, the Beavers lagoon or a fly over of the impressive Cape Horn.
Day 5
Ushuaia
Departure from Port Williams. You will sail slowly to arrive very early to Ushuaia, the most important Argentinean city on Tierra del Fuego. Here you may enjoy optional tours that will permit you to know the most Southern region in South America, such as the Tierra del Fuego National Park or lakes Escondido or Fagnano. On this day, those passengers who took the Punta Arenas-Ushuaia sector option disembark and new passengers embark between 16.00 and 17.00 with destination to Punta Arenas.
Day 6
Cape Horn- Wulaia Bay
Navigation through the Beagle Channel and Murray Channel to disembark in the Cabo de Hornos (Cape Horn) National Park. Cape Horn is a natural sea wall of almost 425 meters high that was discovered on January 30, 1616 by a commercial expedition from the Netherlands organized by Isaac Le Maire and under the command of Captain Willem Schouten . Cape Horn owes its name to the Port of Horn from which the expedition had originated on June 14, 1615. Later, you disembark in Walaia Bay; it was one of the most important indigenous sites of the region.
Day 7
Pia Glacier
You will sail back across the main branch of the Beagle Channel to disembark at Pia Glacier. You will take a short walk to an observation point where you can also see more examples of the area's vegetation. The glacier can be seen in all its glory from the viewpoint as well as the array of icebergs. This Glacier's source is in the middle of the Darwin Range of mountains and reaches the sea at Pia Bay.
After this unforgettable experience you will continue navigating through O'Brian and Ballenero Channels, Bahía Desolada, Paso Aguirre and Brecknock Channel
Day 8
Magdalena Island - Punta Arenas
Early in the morning you will disembark in Magdalena Island, the home of an enormous penguin colony with over 120.000 of them indifferent stages of breeding. You will take a walk to San Isidro Lighthouse, which used to guide the explorer sailors on their way across the Strait of Magellan. After your visit you will return to Punta Arenas where you dock at 11.00 AM and start disembarkation formalities. Thus your Adventure comes to its end.
